Bringing together scientists, engineers and organisations to focus on building a greener construction industry
11% of global greenhouse gas emissions are associated with building materials and construction processes. The long term vision is to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. Around half of the current emissions arise from cement production, including that from the energy used in its production and emitted as a by-product of the chemical reactions involved in its manufacture.
Geopolymer and other alkali-activated cements offer a viable alternative to traditional cements and can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80%.
We run special events around sustainable building, geopolymer cements, and other alkali activated cementitious materials (AACM) throughout the year. They aim to bring together scientists, engineers and organisations to focus on building a greener construction industry.
